Most guitarists are not quite happy with their pickups - it's a
fact of life. With so many different types and brands to choose,
it's a minefield out there.
I have actually tried most - and made many 'mistakes' when I
bought them, later to be sold for little return or just dumped in
a corner. Well, for me, those days are less now because I got fed
up with pickups.
A while ago I purchased the 'dream' - a guitar which took
Fender 3 years to make. Luthier Gene Baker (of Baker Guitars) made
the 'dream' for Awesome John ( a Turkish Guitarist - really great
guy visit www.awesomejohn.com
). Now, on this guitar, were pickups that took well over a year or
so to develop. These were made by AGI Lace's Jeff Lace himself.
Jeff figured out a great design for the 'dream' so I wanted to get
some more of those - but they were a one off lot. No to be
deterred I contacted Jeff and he made a set of the exact
specification for this guitar too. Visit
www.dreamstrat.com for
more about the 'dream'.
You see, these pickups are setup in such a way as they are
'summed' outputs and not 'humbucker' in the true sense. The result
is a sound that is 'awesome' as awesome John will testify. Here's
what I did on this guitar.

Well they do look ordinary enough - just
like your everyday Lace sensor - actually, no not really.
These are the same spec as those on the 'dream' so these
really are something special. I have not gone in to great
depths of how to fit pickups - that's a simple job and
covered all over the internet - and these are just as easy
as any others to fit. Don't forget - crap pickups - crap
guitar - and I should know, I've bought hundreds of crap
pickups.....

This picture is of the pickups after just fitting on to the
scratch plate. They do look rather ordinary, but in real life are
probably as cool a pickup as you are ever likely to buy from
anywhere, but they are not cheap. There are various options for
different wiring but I used a 'summed' design which is not
disclosed on this site - checkout the various wiring designs on
the net there is more than enough of these.
