The nut - it's a simple little thing really, does not appear to do much, except keep the strings in position (I suppose) and that's about it - WRONG - go to jail.....

The nut in it's roar state

Believe it or not, this is how the nut arrives. Mine again came from warmoth.

This one is bigger all over than what is needed and it is made out of some kind of bone.

I Opted for the read deal because that's the way it's been done for literally hundreds of years and some of the newer materials colour the tone from the guitar.

Here's a shot of the later (much later) finished nut. I achieved such a good fit in to the groove that even right now that nut is not glued in to the neck.

It did take some time to get there and as you will see in the assembly area of this site, this was by far the most time consuming and difficult job to do correctly - that is, unless you cheat. But I did not find the right tool until an awful long way down the road to completion...

Installed and working

Not much more to talk about here, but REMEMBER, if this is the wrong material, or you get things wrong with this then you will want to order another - hey, order two from the outset and you won't have to wait around a week or two while the other one arrives....
