This thing MATTERS.

Here's my choice of body. It's not too
clear on this picture, but in the neck joint cavity is the
familiar Fender 'authorised' logo. Again I chose this body
partly because of the very high build quality.
The body is constructed with a back of Louisiana Swamp Ash
and as you can see a highly figured maple top.
What you cannot see is that this body is in fact hollow.
There are numerous chambers routed out of the swamp ash and
the maple top caps off the body very nicely.
This allows this body to be very light (3.2 lbs) and also
makes this guitar resonate in a way that standard strats
cannot.
This is one way that I achieved my sound criteria from the
outset - a brilliant sustain quality. |
| You will notice that the back of
the body is finished in simple black and this colour way goes
well with the purple figured front of the strat. The
dimensions are classic 62 strat without the weight and the
contoured body form as you can see is the real deal.
This is a body that looks like a standard strat with nice
figuring, but as you now know, exceeds the specifications in
many ways.
Guys often ask how this guitar can sound as good as it does
- well now you have an insiders secret - this thing is way
past being a strat body, this is the real deal but with all
the things you always wanted.
If you're building a strat for your dreams well why not.
This body FYI landed in the UK with shipping & duty for
less than £400 (or US$600). |

Notice that the body has no predrilled holes of any kind other
than the neck joint. I opted for a body with routing for a 62
Fender tremolo, but there were options for Floyd Rose and other
choices so there is no need to think you cannot have what you want
on your strat - after all, whose guitar is it anyway!
I did actually get warmoth to route the tremolo hole. They did
not drill out the tremolo holes etc, because at the time I was
toying with a number of other choices of tremolo, but I eventually
did go with the 62 Fender tremolo as per my original
specification, fancy that!
Lastly, take it from me, that if you cut corners with the body
of your strat, then you will pay later, either with a poor sound,
poor resonance, extra weight you did not need or even poor sustain
qualities. Save up the dough and get a decent body and neck.
